Sometimes receiving just a little extra money at the right time can avert a tragedy. Through the Rav’s involvement with KSY families, he has come to realize that many crises can be prevented or resolved with financial assistance. Such situations can arise in respectable, wage-earning families who donate to the local tzedokoh organizations and would not want to request money from them.

The Rav has maintained a low-key special fund over the years to be used for such needs. Since our community is growing, we wish to notify the public of the existence of the fund. This way the needs can be met and everyone can contribute to it.

At the Rav’s discretion, he allocates the money to people associated with Kehillas Shivtei Yeshurun who need help getting through difficult times. It might be used to pay for a few hours of household help, food, medical needs, utilities, rent, assistance in the divorce process or urgent professional counseling. The Rav has a very high threshold for when to utilize the funds and reserve them exclusively for exceptional circumstances. He will only dispense money when he is extremely familiar with the case and is confident that the assistance will indeed solve the problem.

We encourage you to donate tzedokoh or maaser kesofim to the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund, managed by AFOKSY. This is a way to help your fellow Jews in Israel without knowing who they are and without their knowing who you are.
